About Dianne
A life shaped by colour.
Dianne Thompson is a Canadian artist living in Victoria, British Columbia. Her paintings move between realism and abstract forms, often inspired by the light, colour and textures she finds in nature.
Painting has always been part of her life.
Dianne began drawing when she was young and studied with Ward Schell and other accomplished painters in Regina. She also found friendship and creative community through the Prairie Artists Guild.
For more than sixteen years, Dianne was the owner and lead interior stylist of Simply Stunning Designs. As a Canadian Staging Professional and Certified Colour Consultant, she learned how colour, light and scale can change the feeling of a room.
Her return to painting grew naturally from that work. Large canvases led to commissions, then to murals and a fuller studio practice. Today, she continues to paint the natural world and the places that hold meaning for people.

From canvas to walls.
Dianne studied mural painting with Joe Cornelius in Flagstaff, Arizona. Since then, she has created work for private and shared spaces, including a mural at West Port Marina in Sidney, British Columbia.
Each new surface brings a different challenge, and a chance to let colour become part of the place itself.
